TEMPS: Temperatures will be in the mid 50s Wednesday afternoon and fall into the mid to lower 30s Wednesday night into Thursday morning. Ground temps are warm, but this drop in temps will allow for some slush on roads and a layer of snow to form on your vehicle. Temps will only rise into the mid to upper 30s Thursday.

This will set the stage for lake-effect rain and snow showers. Any area that sees snow would pick up under two inches. Some slushy accumulation is likely on elevated surfaces (trees, rooftops, car windshields).

Some rain could be heavy through the morning commute, so be prepared to give yourself some extra time early on in the day. It will be breezy at times with gusts around 20 mph in the afternoon. Highs on Tuesday will top off around 70.

It’s a First Alert Weather Day Tuesday for heavy rain still in east Alabama. It’s been a while since we have seen this much rainfall. We saw about a dozen traffic accidents this morning with ponding on the roadways, oil rising to the surface, wet leaves, hydroplaning...all issues that now continue east of Interstate 65 this late morning.

The stormy start will actually give way to a mostly quiet weather day. By late morning the radar will dry up and conditions will improve. In fact, sunshine probably returns to the forecast by afternoon.
