A new Peacock docuseries, “Making Manson,” out Nov. 19, features 20 years of recordings of Charles Manson’s private phone conversations from prison.

Charles Manson suggested he was a killer long before he became the infamous cult leader who instructed his followers to commit a series of heinous murders, known as the Manson Murders, that terrorized 1960s Los Angeles and shocked the nation.

Manson, who had been in and out of jail during his early years for petty crimes, reinvented himself in the ‘60s as the leader of a group of young followers. He often targeted teenage girls who ran away from home or were otherwise on their own to join his group, which became known as the “Manson Family.”
