The Reserve Bank of India’s Governor Shaktikanta Das and prominent industry leaders cast their votes in Mumbai on Wednesday for the Maharashtra Assembly elections. Das, accompanied by his wife, visited a polling booth near his official residence in South Mumbai and praised the election officials for their efficient arrangements.

The Maharashtra election season is in full swing, as voting in the state's election to 288 assembly seats is underway. As the days roll out, more people are expected to use to join the queue and cast their ballot,

The current tenure of Shaktikanta Das as the Governor of Reserve Bank of India (RBI) is slated to end on December 10.

Governor Shaktikanta Das, accompanied by his wife, cast their votes at the Activity School polling centre in the Malabar Hill assembly constituency in Mumbai.

Shaktikanta Das, appointed in December 2018, stepped into the role during strained relations between the government and the RBI.

If granted an extension, Shaktikanta Das would become the longest-serving head of India's central bank since Sir Benegal Rama Rau's term ended in 1957.

Mumbai civic chief Bhushan Gagrani on Wednesday appealed to voters in the metropolis to cast their ballots, assuring that every polling booth in the city has good facilities

Along with Maharashtra, Jharkhand legislative assembly elections, bypolls for 15 assembly seats across Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Kerala, and Uttarakhand are also being conducted on Wednesday.
