U.S. envoy Amos Hoschtein said Tuesday "a real opportunity" to end the Israel-Hezbollah conflict is "now within our grasp," but both parties need to make the decision.

The envoy, Amos Hochstein, said an end to the fighting was “within our grasp” after meeting in Beirut with Lebanon’s Parliament speaker, a key interlocutor with Hezbollah.

Israel and Hezbollah have made progress on a possible ceasefire deal, according to the U.S. official dedicated to trying to end the conflict. U.S. envoy to the Middle East Amos Hochstein said on Tuesday that the gaps between the two sides had "narrowed" and that "we have a real opportunity to bring this conflict to an end.
